Cultural Heritage

Klau Geomatics works closely with Cultural Heritage and environmental consultants to ensure that all care is taken to protect the heritage and ecology of the project area. Objects of significance may include aboriginal artifacts, endagered flora and fauna or fragile environmental areas.

Seismic line locations are determined so as not to impact cultural or environmental features.

In some cases, aborginal artifact locations will be recorded and mapped for the CH team who remove the articles to be replaced at the end of the project.

Line Scouting and Clearance

Line scouting and clearance ensures that the project is positioned in the most appropriate location with respect to difficult terrain, physical obstructions, landowner requirements and access.

Where line pointing is difficult, lines may be scouted and flagged ahead of the line clearing machinery.

Differential GPS or Omnistar GPS may be installed in slashers, graders or dozers to guide the machinery along the design lines or modified lines.

Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

Positioning data from the line clearing can be incorporated into the mapping database as a QC tool for managing line positioning and production.

Klau Geomatics can supply GIS services utilising MapInfo, ArcGIS and AutoCad for resource exploration, development and construction projects. This includes conversion of existing datasets, asset mapping, infrastructure compilation, cultural heritage identification and on-the-job data acquisition and mapping.

Klau Geomatics has also worked with various document control systems in past providing a seamless solution for clients on design/build engineering projects.

Line survey

Klau Geomatics's field methodology provides fast and efficient pegging of seismic lines.

Points are surveyed with GNSS RTK GPS in most cases. Where tree cover is too dense for this method, conventional survey techniques are used.

Access mapping is produced in the field either on paper scanned and copied to the recording crew, or digitally with mobile mapping GIS running on vehicle mounted tablets.

GPS/Inertial, Vehicle Tracking

Klau Geomatics is currently exploring the latest GPS/inertial guidance technology to further enhance GPS in unfavourable areas such as in forests and jungle environments. This technology combined with future enhancements in vehicle tracking will provide a safe and consistent positioning service for clients.
